Part 71 - Compatibility with IAEA Transportation Standards Working Group
Purpose: This rulemaking would amend Part 71 to make it compatible with recent revisions to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Transportation safety standards TS-R-1 and make other changes to 10 CFR Part 71

10 CFR Part 40.22 Working Group
Purpose: The 10 CFR Part 40.22 Working Group was formed to improve the control of distribution of source material to persons who are authorized to receive and possess the source material under an exemption or a general license, and incorporates the resolution of PRM 40-27 to make 10 CFR Part 40 more risk-informed. The rulemaking would also make clarifying changes to the source material regulations. The primary role of the working group is to assist in developing the draft proposed rule and draft final rule packages, including rule text, statements of consideration, and supporting information for regulatory analyses.

American Physical Society Petition for Rulemaking
Purpose: To review and resolve a petition for rulemaking (PRM-70-9). The petitioner (American Physical Society) requests that the NRC amend its Part 70 regulations regarding the domestic licensing of special nuclear material to include proliferation assessments as part of the licensing process.Members:

10 CFR Part 40 Integrated Safety Analysis Rulemaking
Purpose: This rulemaking would amend the regulations to add appropriate performance requirements for an integrated safety analysis for uranium conversion/deconversion facilities similar to current requirements in 10 CFR 70, Subpart H.

10 CFR Part 40 In Situ Leach Working Group
Purpose: The In Situ Leach Uranium Recovery Facility (ISL) Working Group was formed to revise Appendix A in 10 CFR Part 40 to clarify the regulations related to groundwater protection at in situ leach uranium recovery facilities in order to improve regulatory efficiency. A secondary purpose of this proposed rulemaking is to update the requirements in Appendix A to be consistent with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s maximum contaminant levels in drinking water.

Part 35 Amendments Including Preceptor Attestation Requirements, Grandfathering issues (Ritenour Petition) and Medical Event definitions Working Group
Purpose: The proposed rule would make several amendments to the medical use regulations in Part 35, including preceptor attestation requirements for authorized users, medical physicists, radiation safety officers, and nuclear pharmacists; grandfathering certain individuals (Ritenour Petition), and medical event definitions (ME rule).

Site Specific Analyses Working Group
Part 61-Steering Committee
Purpose: To oversee and provide policy guidance to Part 61-Site Specific Analyses Working Groups on the development of the revised Part 61 proposed rule.

Part 61-Working Group
Purpose: This rulemaking working group would amend Part 61 regulations to require low-level radioactive waste disposal facilities to conduct site-specific analyses to demonstrate compliance with performance objectives in 10 CFR Part 61, which would enhance the safe disposal of low-level radioactive waste. These analyses would also identify any additional measures that would enhance adequate protection of public health and safety. The NRC is also proposing additional changes to the current regulations to reduce ambiguity, facilitate implementation, and to better align the requirements with current health and safety standards.
